THE SIAN RUCK STORY
Johnsonville Women's Team Captain and Wellington Blaze left-arm opening bowler Sian was one of three new caps in the White Ferns side to contest the ICC Women's World Cup in June.
Sian played an integral role within the 14-strong squad at the Twenty20 tournament in England, which took place at the same time as the Men's World Cup tournament.
State Wellington Blaze coach Mark Borthwick says Ruck's selection is a terrific reward for her commitment and dedication to her game.
"This selection is really well deserved for a player who has worked exceedingly hard over the last three seasons. Sian has made her fitness for cricket a priority and has made many sacrifices on her journey and has now achieved her goal," says Borthwick
"Sian is a great advertisement for where hard work and selfless determination can get you."
25-year old Sian has been a regular member of the Blaze team in both the State League and State League Twenty20 forms of the game. She has played 32 games and has a career economy rate of 3.36 runs per over.

Accomplished batsman and attacking left arm spinner Luke enjoyed his best season to date for the State Wellington Firebirds, regularly picking up wickets and scoring runs in all three forms of the game.
Luke deservedly won the Best Allrounder's gong at the 2008/09 end of season Cricket Wellington Awards, after a fine season for the Firebirds in all three forms of the game. In the State Championship he scored four half centuries and one century and took 16 wickets. He took 12 wickets in the State Shield and Captured three consecutive three-wicket hauls and added some valuable runs in the middle order in the State Twenty20.
He was also rewarded with selection for New Zealand A against the England Lions.
Luke brings experience, leadership and a cool head to our Senior Team, his value often coming to the fore in the tight situations.
He is also a longtime regular contributor with both bat and ball for Johnsonville in fact surpassing 4,000 club cricket runs in November 2008.
Luke briefly held the all time highest score record for Johnsonville in 2007-08 with a fine unbeaten 177* only to be surpassed by our overseas import Atiq-Uz-Zaman (226*) last season.
However, Luke is sure to write is name many times in the club history books in seasons to come.
