Established in 1886, JCC is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the Wellington region.

The club is based at Alex Moore Park, Johnsonville where it has clubrooms and a new 4 lane practice nets facility up on the top level.

Following amalgamation with the Newlands Cricket Club, JCC is now home to cricket players and fanatics in a wide area of the Wellington North region, comprising of Churton Park, Newlands and Johnsonville. It covers a community which is diverse in culture and origin and is the face of the area for New Zealand's favourite summer game.

 

Past and present players to remember

The club has had a rich and successful history. A successful 125th Jubilee celebration was held in April 2011.

The club has bred talented cricketers like Jonathan Millmow (Journalist for the Dominion Post and representative for New Zealand) and more recently Luke Woodcock. Sian Ruck who is a member of the JCC Senior Women's team is currently a White Fern.

The 2013/2014 season sees teams participating in the following grades:

  • Premier Men
  • Premier Reserve
  • Second and Third Grade
  • Senior Women
  • Women's T20
  • Youth Women
  • One day Grade
  • Twenty/20 Men (three teams)

 

The Junior Section of the Club has 200 players ranging from 4 years to 14 years.  There are 22 teams throughout the age grades plus the beginners in "Have-a-go" cricket.  The emphasis of the Junior Section is to nurture the young cricketer by coaching and providing the opportunity to play no matter their age or ability.

The Devon and Patterson Premier side were the winners of the 2011 Premier competition.
