GIRLS HARDBALL Academy 2023-2024 (Years 7 - 11)

WELCOME

The Johnsonville Cricket Club has a proud heritage of supporting and encouraging the development of female cricketers.

BACKGROUND

With the recent upsurge in interest in cricket for women, including professional pathways and full time contracted players, there has been heightened interest from girls wanting to play cricket. This is an opportunity for more young girls who have an interest to play cricket.

ELIGIBILITY

The grade is open to girls who are in school years 7-11 in 2023. If girls are older than that they may on application be granted dispensation to be a part of this grade.

FORMAT

Games are played on a Saturday afternoon generally commencing around 2pm. If girls , up to year 8 also wanted to play for a mixed team on a Saturday morning, this would not preclude them from being a part of this Academy if they chose to do so. The only cricket available for girls when they commence secondary school is a Thursday afternoon format so this would enable girls who are Year 8 this year to continue to be involved full time in cricket after Xmas. The grade is played in three formats over the season where everyone gets many chances to participate. The girls play pairs cricket where they bat for 4 overs together, T20 and some 30 over games.

TRAINING
